web_100_7649.jpgCongratulations to our newly rated Pony Clubbers!  Amelia Wilson-Wright earned her D-3 rating and Maddie Mazur earned her D-1 rating!  To earn the new ratings, Amelia and Maddie passed an examination that tested their horsemanship skills and knowledge.  Each of the pony club ratings is more difficult than the preceding one, and requires pony clubbers to learn more about horses and their care and to become increasingly accomplished riders.

 Great job Amelia and Maddie!

Big Walnut Creek Pony Club wants you to join our fun!  We are currently seeking new members!

Is your child, up to age 25, crazy about horses?  Pony club is a worldwide educational organization that originated in Great Britain in 1928.  The United States Pony Clubs (USPC) was founded as a non-profit national youth horsemanship organization in February 1954.

Through the USPC formal instructional program, members learn more about horses and their care than do members of other American horsemanship organizaitons. Riding activities include Combined Training (dressage, stadium jumping, cross-country), Polo, Polocrosse, Mounted Games, Show Jumping, Dressage, Vaulting (horseback gymnastics), Foxhunting, and Tetrathlon (riding, running, swimming, shooting).  Although USPC emphasizes instruction over competition, members do compete with one another at club, regional, and national rallies.  Most USPC competition is a team competition, so members learn the importance of cooperation and friendship.  Pony Club members learn to ride and care for their mounts safely and well and become good responsible people--and have fun!

To join, call Marcee at 765-522-1306.  For more infomation about USPC, please visit ponyclub.org

Mother Nature provided beautiful weather for the pony clubbers on Saturday, August 9th.  The Big Walnut Creek Pony Club hosted the Hartland Region USPC D-Rally.  D-rally is an eventing rally (dressage, stadium jumping and cross-country jumping) for our beginner pony clubbers.  The D1 level participants rode USDF intro A dressage test, and jumped ground poles in stadium and cross-country.  The D2 level participants rode USEF Beginner Novice A, and jumps/obstacles up to 19" high and 1' wide.  The D3's rode USEF Beginner Novice B, and jumps/ obstacles up to 2'6" high, and 2'6" wide.  As a pony club rally, the participants were also judged on horse management.  This was the first rally for many of the participants.  Everyone did a wonderful job!  We wish to thank all of our pony clubbers, parents, and volunteers for a job well done!
